Animwall features 16 individually controllable screens, 5 animation types, 5 sync options, screen masking support, glow, textures, speed and x & y animation levels are all programmable. Once done with the pattern programming you can export it for inclusion in the playlist. A 5 minute demo sequence is delivered to get you started right away.
If you want some really unique animation in your club, or just want to get high at home, Animwall is definately for you !
1. Installation
Installation is easy. No setup is required. Just rezz the Animwall against a wall and touch it to get started. To see the included demo sequence just press Play from the main menu.
2. Basic Setup
Access Control can be configured from the main menu. You can configure it for owner only, group access or public access. For group access the avatar must be in the same group the Animwall is in. Public access could be fun with this, but you probably want to keep an eye on it because of porn and spam.
There are multiple configuration files supported. The one always present, and loaded at startup is called default. The default config holds the demo sequence. For your convenience there is a notecard called testing supplied for you to get started. To load a notecard with patterns, select Reload from the main menu and choose a notecard. You can drop your own notecards in the Animwall too, up to a maximum of 11 notecards in total.
The Create button gets you into the create submenu where all the editing options reside. The first thing to do when starting is to load a texture, then just play with all the options to get started.
3. Create Menu
Delay divider factor for screen sync when starting an animation.
Mask Choose from a predefined mask, Top & Bottom, Left & Right, Left, Right, Top, Bottom, Center, Border or enter a Custom mask created with the Masktool. To use no mask use the Clear option.
Mode Select animation mode, Loop, Zoom, Rotate, Anim or None.
Glow Select glow level from 0 to 100. 0 is no glow, 100 is full glow!
Sync Select sync. None, Random, HSync, VSync or HVSync
Texture Say the uuid of the texture.
Speed Set the animation speed.
XY Set the X or Y animation speed, offsets or sizes. Depending on the animation type.
4. Animation Modes
There are 4 types of animation modes. All of them are directly related to the llSetTextureAnimation() function.
Loop mode is a smooth scrolling animation effect. X and Y are the length in frames of the animation.
Anim is a standard animation which you can layout in a X * Y grid texture. The animation is played frame by frame.
Zoom scales the animation. X specifies the number of repeats-per-face of the texture at the beginning of the animation. Y specifies the total increase in repeats-per-face of the texture over the course of the animation.
PingPong is the same as zoom, with the exception that the zoom effect moves back and forwared creating a ping pong effect.
Rotate can be used to rotate a texture on a single screen. In a rotational animation X and Y are ignored.
5. Screen Masking
Screen masking is a term used to describe which screens are to play a certain animation. For example you can mask the center 4 screens, or the left or right sides of the screen. This way you can start 2 animations at the same time and have different screens playing different animations.
To find out the mask of one or more screens, rezz the Masktool which comes bundled with Animwall. Toggle screens by touching them. Red means they're masked, grey means they're unmasked. The animation will be played on the unmasked screens. Once you've selected some screens, touch the background of the Masktool and you'll get a number representing the current mask.
6. Delay and Sync
Sync is the term used to define when a screen is updated with it's new texture animation after the pattern starts playing. The delay value is used as a divider when calculating the sleeptime. The sleeptime is based on the sync type and the X and Y position of the screen.
When no sync is used, all screens will start playing an animation at the same time. With HSync it will synchronize horizontally, VSync vertically. HVSync does it both horizontal and vertical creating a diagonal effect. Random just does whatever.
Put the delay value low for slow updates, i.e. with HVSync, the animation will start in the upper left corner advancing slowly to the bottom right. Putting a high delay value will cause a higher delay factor, thus advancing faster to the bottom right corner.
7. Exporting Patterns to Configuration File
Clicking the Export button from the Create menu will result output like this:
XXX:1.000000:2.000000:-2.500000:zoom:nosync:32:0:0:383b2826-4df9-24e9-a13d-06c46e840e2eYou have to copy & paste this line.
Now open the config notecard inside the contents of the Animwall. Put the copied line somewhere at the beginning, or the end, depending on when you want it to be played. Replace XXX with a number after copying the line to the config notecard. XXX should be the number of seconds for the animation to play and continue to the next one.
Theoretically it's possible to have all 16 screens play a different animation. For this to work, put XXX to 0 and use 16 different pattern lines with each a different mask. On the last line change XXX to 20 or 30 seconds to see the full effect of this.
The configuration file and exported patterns have the following format:
duration:x:y:speed:mode:sync:delay:glow:mask:uuidAlso note that empty lines, or lines starting with a # are ignored in the config file.
Future Revisions
This is the first version of the Animwall. New versions will include more patterns, more options, an import function and whatever comes to my mind. Once a new version is released you will automatically receive the new version.
